Believer In Soulful Interiors
Hi guys, welcome to my first blog post! Yes I love designing spaces for my clients but I also love sharing my design tips, tricks and advice. I do not believe in gatekeeping knowledge when it comes to your passion. Interior design is my passion so I am going to be sharing anything and everything with you! I will also be straight up and say that I am a total rambler and get off topic a lot :)
I’ll start with a little introduction… Hi my name is Shannon Pumneo. I am the Founder and Designer here at Studio Prajex. I began my career in this field back in 2018, working at a boutique residential design firm here in Charlotte, NC. I was also going to school for my Interior Design degree at the time but I wasn’t always planning on going into this field.
I began college in 2014 at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in the Nursing program. Never did I think that Interior Design was a realistic profession. Growing up, I always loved the visual arts - photography, fashion, painting, all the things - but interior design was something that always had me in awe. Standing in a room that made me feel like I was experiencing a new place is exactly what made me love interior design.
So as you have probably already guessed, yes, I switched my major half way through nursing school! I came home crying one day after class because I knew that I was missing out on my true calling. After talking with my family and having all their support in following my dreams, I began the process of switching my major that week.
Eager to get some experience under my belt while still in school, I began an internship in 2018 at a boutique residential design firm. That internship turned into a permanent position in their design team! For the next 5+ years, I was a total sponge working under these 2 creative, ambitious designers. My biggest take-away was the learning of Risk vs. Reward in both the art of Interior Design and business ventures.
I began Studio Prajex with wanting to share one thing - the experience of home. I create spaces that my clients feel good about. My goal is for their house guests to leave thinking “Wow, that was such a vibe”, “That felt like I was at a resort”. But more than that, I want my clients to feel the weight of the world lift off their shoulders when they come home. I want my clients to wake up every morning with a feeling of being recharged and reset. I believe that our home is our personal escape, our sanctuary. I believe interiors are an outward expression of the mind. I believe our home is an experience of ourselves. I believe interiors hold a story. I believe in soulful interiors.
